Bairn

This past week was pretty wonderful. Made a few short films, made a new friend (Giuliana: the creative force that inspired the short film attached at the end of this post), made it out to Lansing for the We Are The Fury show, considered making horror films with Tod, talked Vinyl with Chris, saw 7 of Alex’s lucky cars and 1 of mine, found the perfect walking on the railroad spot because of Peg’s observant eyes, skated at a party and got asked if I was sponsered and got to see my good friends David and Nikola. This short turned out better than I could have imagined, so check it.

BaioWulf’s Top Gnarly Wolves

Last night as we were riding home from the We Are The Fury concert it was brought to my attention that there has been an uprise in things being named wolf, me being no exception to the rule. Today I was thinking of all of my favorite things that have to do with wolves and I have boiled it down to my Top Three Gnarliest Wolves. You know what to do.

In With The Old, Out With The New

So yesterday I posted my 3 year old skate video and today I am going to follow suit and post some more stuff I did not make recently. I found this stuff on my harddrive and realized that it had not even made it up on youtube yet, so I threw it up yesterday, but had to wait for today to post it on this site being that the Porcupine Quills post yesterday had like 9 videos in it…One is a class project and one is not. Porcupine Quills is on the Net!

Due to popular demand (Wade and Ryan) I have uploaded the entire Porcupine Quills video (in sections) onto youtube and have posted it here as well.  For those of you who don’t have any idea what I am talking about, Porcupine Quills is the first skate video I ever made.  It features parts from David Kozy, Gabe Venditti and Brian Boyne.  I think I finished it in 2003? Maybe 2004, but either way be easy on me, it’s one of the first things I ever editied and I was clearly still learning.  The credits section has some hilarious footage and is worth a watch, even if you skip through the actual credits.  So check it children…

The Joy Of Repetition Really Is In You

My day thusfar has been well rounded with repetitious activities including working, listening to Hot Chip “Over and Over” on repeat, and making this video with pictures I took on my camera phone a couple weeks ago as I was on my (then) daily commute to Bowling Green from my house in Toledo. I took 50 some pictures in that 20 min time span and thought to make a video…needless to say I lost interest when the song I deemed appropriate didn’t fit well and I just left the photos on my computer and threw the idea to the curb. I don’t know why my mind wandered back to that idea today, but I found inspiration in a certain Boards of Canada song that truly was appropriate and got hyped on the whole operation again. Being excited about things is fun, especially when you finish it before you are not excited about it anymore. So check it.

Hot Chip Has Broke My Legs!

It’s not always the best to start the day apologizing, but when they are in order I feel as though I must. I have to apologize to someone (Andrea) who told me about Hot Chip in an overwhelmingly excited tone ages ago, and I didn’t catch on for some reason. She brought them up yesterday and I told her to “not yell at me” because I still hadn’t checked them out. Welllllll I was goin through some music blogs last night and whataya know? I came across a Hot Chip song…I thought to myself “Ooooo…I finally get to check these guys out…” Needless to say I’ve listened to the song 15 times since 1:53 AM last night… You neeeeeed this track so keep reading, son.

New Joanna Newsom Song…Ys!!!

Joanna Newsom’s upcoming album Ys (pronounced “ees”) is coming soon and I could not be more excited! Skimming through my list of music blogs this morning with a glass of Mountain Dew I came across a song off her new album (i guess i’m floating) and it is absolutely breathtaking. Her once wavering and bashful voice (which at times sounded a bit like Angelica from Rug Rats) is now more beautiful and radiant than ever. I would even go as far to say she is on a par with Bjork on this track! Please, for your own good…keep reading!
